I was hooked from the first page.In this story, set in modern-day Los Angeles, two characters' destinies scream forward until that gunpowder moment they slam together. Serena, gentle counselor, gets a call one afternoon from a suicidal woman. Perhaps she shouldn't have, but she goes in search of the woman, and finds herself ambushed by a gang of emotion-sucking leeches who do not have her best interests at heart.
Drawn from a logistics meeting by a vision, Gabriel, a psychic, rockets through the city and lands in the very room where the leeches are tormenting Serena.
Sparks fly, and questions erupt, and draw Serena and Gabriel together, and then events further wrap them into each other's lives.
It's a fun ride, filled with adventure and laughs and love, and I read until I couldn't see.
This is a book so much better than the norm - writing, characters development, plot. If I could, I'd give it six stars.

I love this urban fantasy universe that Elle Hill has created! A world of Leeches, Hunters, Psychics.... I got absolutely lost in it!
With a handful of words, Elle Hill sculptures the most glorious characters, scarred yet beautiful, valiant and caring. Like Serena we are hurled from the normal world into one inhabited by psychics and super-human hunters, and by the leeches who feed on the darker side of us mere mortals to sate their evil hungers and who view us as little more than a food source. An all-action paranormal romance with more than one twist in the telling, this will leave you gasping for more.
